IceRocket to stop listing Blogger blogs
Do a search of “investment” in a blog search engine and the most prevalent results will be spam blogs. These are blogs that have been started by spammers and loaded with link to sites they represent. The idea is to elevate these sites in the search engines, which rely on “relevance”—the number of links to a site using a given key word—to rank the results. Unfortunately, it’s a strategy that works quite well.
Which has prompted Mark Cuban, owner of the IceRocket blog search engine (in addition to the Dallas Mavericks) to warn users of the Google-owned blogging service that he’s close to excluding Blogger.com blogs from his service. Search Engine Journal quotes Cuban: “If you are an individual blogger whose blog is hosted on blogspot.com, every day the chances of you being excluded from icerocket.com’s, and other search engines’ indexes increases. “
Cuban also points an accusing finger at Google for not doing enough (or anything) to curtail the use of its blogs for spam.
