Infringement lawsuit filed against PepperRubel PR

In the wake of the announcement that Steve Rubel and Jeremy Pepper have formed PepperRubel Public Relations, displaced Hurricane Katrina victim and former IABC chairman Charles Pizzo has announced that he and his retired partner, Edie Rosenbloom, have filed an infringement lawsuit against the nascent PR agency.

“We were PR PR long before Steve Rubel was even out of college,” Pizzo proclaimed. “Pizzo Rosenbloom Public Relations is still our mark, and we intend to defend it vigorously. This will not stand.”

Pizzo Rosenbloom Public Relations of New Orleans—which launched the careers of several promiment practitioners, including John Deveney—disbanded with Rosenbloom’s retirement, but Pizzo insists he retained the PR PR service mark in the hopes that he could lure his former partner back to the fold. “Of course, she’d have to move to Plano, Texas, where I now live,” Pizzo said, “or learn to use the Internet, one or the other. But one thing’s for sure: There’s no room for two PR PRs. PepperRubel has got to go. Of course, they could always switch to RP PR. Rubel’s got more juice than Pepper anyway.”

Neither Rubel nor Pepper would comment on advice from their general counsel regarding pending litigation.

News of the newly formed agency was initially reported by Josh Hallett.
